From the moment you meet Michael, it’s clear that hairstyling is more than a profession for him—it’s a calling. Beyond his technical skill and extensive education, Michael possesses an undeniable “it” factor. He connects effortlessly with people, and that genuine warmth, paired with an unwavering passion for hair and a lifelong curiosity for his craft, defines his work as a stylist.

Michael’s journey into the beauty industry began unexpectedly at the age of fifteen. During a visit to a local swimming pool with his cousin, who was enrolled in cosmetology school, a simple moment sparked a lifelong path. A young woman asked Michael to trim her hair, and with his cousin’s shears in hand, he did just that. What seemed like an ordinary afternoon became a defining experience—one that quietly set the direction for his future.

Growing up with a father who was a sculptor, Michael was immersed in the arts from an early age. After high school, he attended the Columbus College of Art & Design, where he explored his interest in painting and form. However, seeking a more hands-on creative outlet, he ultimately left the program. Shortly thereafter, he was drafted and served in Vietnam. That experience profoundly shaped his perspective, reinforcing his desire to pursue a career rooted in joy, creativity, and human connection.

Upon returning home, Michael enrolled at the Ohio State School of Cosmetology—a decision that would define his life’s work. Since then, he has built a multifaceted career within the beauty industry, working as a stylist, salon manager, salon owner, platform artist, and educator. In every role, he has consistently shared his passion for the art of beauty and his commitment to excellence.

Michael has also had the rare privilege of studying under and working alongside two of the industry’s most influential figures: Paul Mitchell and John Sahag. He became an educator with Sahag and continues to specialize in the dry haircutting techniques for which Sahag is renowned—techniques famously worn by icons such as Jennifer Aniston, Demi Moore, and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Today, Michael is deeply grateful to have discovered his true passion. When asked how others can find theirs, his answer is simple: consider what you would do if money were no object. For Michael, the reward has never been financial alone—it has been the opportunity to uplift others, help them feel seen and confident, and bring out the star in every person who sits in his chair.
